New bird fossil from the dinosaur era discovered in China is 131 million years old

According to the American National Geography, in 2005-2006, Sino-British scientists found a new bird fossil of dinosaur age in a lakeside forest in Fengning County, Hebei Province. Scientists said that it was one of the oldest discoveries. This new bird was named Eoconfuciusornis zhengi. It is the most primitive representative of the Confucius birds known so far. It dates back to about 131 million years ago, just behind the 150-million-year-old Archaeopteryx that lived in the Jurassic period.
