The school has explicitly banned corporal punishment by teachers, but recently, an online post revealed that students at a well-known martial arts school in Henan Province were brutally beaten by the school authorities. Furthermore, the school organized all students to watch a public killing of a chicken as a warning. Physical abuse by martial arts school coaches has been an open secret. According to a coach who wished to remain anonymous: "There are many people in martial arts schools, and even more difficult-to-manage children. Persuasive education for those who smoke, drink, and are mischievous doesn't work. This is the most direct and effective method, and it's the most convenient for management. We have no choice."

According to investigations, 90% of the students who were beaten were punished for not following school discipline, such as smoking, not showing up when called upon, talking in their sleep, or using mobile phones. They never thought of using legal means to protect themselves because they feared receiving even crueler beatings. It was learned that in violent education at martial arts schools, coaches mainly use sticks to beat students on the buttocks, as they believe this area has more meat and thus won't result in internal injuries.
