On the afternoon of April 2, Wendy Pechlick, a 36-year-old Australian woman, was touring the Litchfield National Park, which is located 160 kilometers southwest of Darwin City, when she suddenly came under attack by a ferocious 2.5-meter-long crocodile. In the ensuing chaos, Norm Pechlick, Wendy’s husband, jumped onto the back of the crocodile without hesitation and wrestled with it barehanded. After a desperate struggle, the crocodile, which had its eyeballs poked out, finally let go of its “prey” and retreated reluctantly. Wendy was then rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment. Upon examination, it was found that her hands and legs were severely bitten, but she has now been declared out of danger. Her brave husband, however, only sustained minor abrasions. In no time, Norm’s heroic act of saving his wife from the jaws of a crocodile became a popular tale.
