A wife feels immense heartache upon discovering her husband's infidelity; but how much more unbearable is it when the affair is with her own younger sister? In Kaohsiung, a case arose where a brother-in-law engaged in an extramarital affair with his younger sister-in-law for over 10 years. Later, the man discovered that the younger sister-in-law was also having affairs with other men. He confessed to his wife and even provided his own intimate diary to assist her in filing charges. The judge determined that during this period, the two had engaged in sexual relations 547 times, sentencing the younger sister-in-law to one year and six months in prison.
This case of a sister accusing her younger sister of adultery involved Ms. Zhang, who six years ago was caught by her older sister having an affair with her husband, Mr. Lin, at their home. At the time, the older sister chose to forgive them, and both promised not to repeat their offense. However, they continued their secret liaisons privately, and Mr. Lin even gave the younger sister-in-law over ten million dollars during this period. It wasn't until last October that Mr. Lin discovered the younger sister-in-law was also having affairs with surnamed Luo and surnamed Lü men, realizing he too had been betrayed, prompting him to confess to his wife.
Mr. Lin, who was in the habit of keeping a diary, documented all the events of his relationship with the younger sister-in-law in an intimate diary. Starting from the age of 40 when she became a widow, the then 50-year-old Mr. Lin began a forbidden relationship with his younger sister-in-law since 2000. Their illicit relationship was discovered by the older sister six years ago, at which point she chose to forgive them. But subsequently, they continued their affair behind the older sister’s back. According to Mr. Lin's diary entries from December 19, 2005, to November 3, 2010, it recorded the times, locations, and hotel names of their encounters, totaling 547 instances.
Upon learning of this, Mr. Lin’s wife filed charges against her younger sister for adultery. During the trial, the younger sister did not deny committing adultery with her brother-in-law but insisted it did not happen as many times as claimed. Mr. Lin presented his daily diary habits, documenting every detail of the events with the younger sister-in-law, including even her menstrual cycle. The judge ruled that due to the older sister's previous forgiveness of their infidelity, only the adultery over the past five years would be pursued. As a result, Ms. Zhang was sentenced to one and a half years in prison, and civilly ordered to compensate her sister with 700,000 NT dollars. The younger sister has since appealed the decision.
