Games such as "Wii Sports" and "Wii Fit" may appear to be very easy to develop, and indeed, many people firmly believe this. Some even consider the graphics of Wii games to be unremarkable, viewing them as little more than a 1.5 version of the Nintendo GameCube (NGC), with motion sensing being their only significant innovation. However, the reality is far more complex.
Now, Satoru Iwata, president of Nintendo, aims to convey that Wii games encapsulate the heart and soul of Nintendo. Despite their current success, the company refuses to rest on its laurels, recognizing that repetitive gaming experiences will eventually bore players. In an interview, Iwata stated: "We did not choose to develop these (Wii) games because they are simple. In fact, an immense amount of effort and dedication, unimaginable from the outside, went into the creation of these titles. Our focus was on areas beyond just graphics and game size." He continued, emphasizing: "It must also be noted that, as I've said before, it would not work for all games to simply imitate the formula of 'Wii Sports' and 'Wii Fit.' Doing so would immediately make our lineup tiresome. There's a fine line here."
