The 2009 Hubei College Student of the Year was announced yesterday morning in a grand ceremony held at the Chutian Media Tower. Thirty outstanding representatives of Hubei college students received the "Student of the Year" and "Nomination for Student of the Year" honors.
The "10・24" hero group from Yangtze University received the special "Student of the Year" award. National "Moral Model" and Hubei Vocational and Technical College student Tan Zhiping, who brought her mother to school, Wuhan University of Technology student Qin Bao, who raised 300,000 yuan to build two bridges in Han Yuan, Sichuan, and eight others (including combinations) received the honorary title of "Student of the Year". Nineteen other students received the "Nomination for Student of the Year" award.
This selection activity was jointly organized by the Provincial Party Committee's University Working Committee, the Provincial Department of Education, the Provincial Youth League Committee, and other units. A total of 439 college students from 93 universities across the province submitted their application materials.
