Tu Xuxin, male, born in August 1977, from Jinhua Zhejiang, held a doctoral degree. In the early morning at 2am on September 17th 2009, he committed suicide by jumping off the 11th floor of the Zhejiang University Yudquan Campus' Comprehensive Building. He was 32 years old. He left behind a suicide note saying "the domestic academic circle is ruthless".
In 1977 Tu Xuxin was born into an intellectual family, and from his youth to young adulthood, he had always been one of the best among his peers. After graduating from high school he was admitted to Tsinghua University's Department of Hydraulic Engineering, before the "9·11" attacks he smoothly obtained a visa with a full scholarship to Northwestern University's Civil Engineering Department, 6 years later obtaining a doctoral degree, and remaining at the university for 2 more years as a post-doctoral researcher.
