The honorary chairman of the Minsheng Bank (600016, Stock Forum), Mr. Jing Suping, the founder of the Minsheng Bank and a milestone figure in the banking circle, passed away at the age of 91 in Beijing due to illness on the evening of August 14th.

On January 12, 1996, China's first shareholding bank mainly consisting of private capital was born. Mr. Jing Suping, already close to 80 years old, assumed office as the chairman of the board of directors of the Minsheng Bank of China, which also marked the beginning of the true market-oriented operations of China's commercial banks.

Minsheng raised RMB 1.380248 billion of registered capital by means of initiators, among which 85% of the registered capital came from non-state-owned enterprises. The practice of raising registered capital by means of initiators to establish a bank was the first of its kind in China. Since Minsheng was established, the board of directors presided over by Mr. Jing Suping has established a good corporate governance structure.
