The Art of Reading a Person from Their Lips

An individual's lips are closely related to their personality, just as the ancients said: "Joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness, when moved within, will surely be reflected outwardly."

To put it simply, the mouth should be large. As the saying goes, "A wide mouth that can hold a fist signifies someone who can become a general or a prime minister." However, a large mouth without control indicates poverty; thus, it is preferable for the mouth to open wide but close small. At the same time, one must consider the symmetry of the face. A large mouth with a small face, or a large face with a small mouth, does not indicate nobility. The mouth should be upright, thick, and square, and it is most taboo for it to be crooked, pointed, or small. As they say, "Pointed mouths belong to those who steal food." It is undesirable for the mouth to expose teeth, as the saying goes, "A mouth that exposes teeth indicates someone who cannot escape trouble," meaning such people cannot keep secrets. Do not share any secrets with them, otherwise, you will regret it.

The mouth and lips are inseparable, as the saying goes, "Lips are the city walls of the mouth." Therefore, observing the mouth often involves observing the lips. The shape, thickness, and color of the lips are very important in reading a person.

The best lips are thick and red, with an upper and lower symmetry. Thin, small, contracted, defective, or pointed lips are to be avoided. Flipped-up lips, curled lips, mismatched upper and lower lips, black lips (black lips signify extreme toxicity and cunning), blue lips, white lips (blue and white lips indicate a short lifespan) are all undesirable traits.

Judging by the shape of the lips: People with thick lips tend to have signs of wealth, longevity, and artistic talent. However, lips should not be too thick, as overly thick lips can indicate someone of low status. Thick and wide lips suggest high personal desires, while excessively wide and thick lips indicate strong physical desires.

People with thin lips tend to be argumentative, clever, alert, outwardly tough but inwardly timid, composed, calm, and unfeeling.

People with long lips tend to be highly competitive, realistic, and capable.

People with short lips tend to be idealistic, lack decisiveness, hesitate easily, and are prone to wavering.

People whose lips droop at both ends tend to be depressed, pessimistic, negative, have peculiar tempers, get angry easily, and are stubborn.

Judging by the color of the lips: People with rosy lips usually have good digestion and nutrition, so they are energetic, capable, active, lively, and tend to be extroverted.

People with pale or bluish lips may have health issues or digestive problems. They tend to be lazy, negative, pessimistic, lack vigor in work, have weak willpower, and are soft and timid. People with black lips are toxic-hearted and are those you can share hardships with but not peace.

Ancient people divided the mouth and lip area into categories such as cherry lips, square mouths, fire-blowing mouths, overturned boat mouths... Here, we'll discuss some main types and their characteristics:

① Cherry Lips: This type belongs to women and indicates a love for beauty, gentleness, and sentimentality.

② Square Mouth: This type belongs to men, with a somewhat square-shaped mouth and even corners. Such people are capable, practical, and enjoy luxury.

③ Fire-Blowing Mouth: (Mouth shaped like blowing fire), this type lacks strength and decisiveness, leading to a life of loneliness.

④ Overturned Boat Mouth: Lips drooping at both ends (mouth shaped like an overturned boat), this type is cunning, greedy, and cruel.

⑤ Crescent Moon Mouth: Lips curving upwards at both ends (mouth shaped like a crescent moon), this type is optimistic, extraordinary, and often surprises others.

When observing a person's lips, there is another feature that can reveal much about their character: the straight groove from under the nose to the upper lip. People with a short groove like being praised and are extremely sensitive. Dealing with such people, praise is the best weapon. Never criticize or blame them, as they are highly sensitive. Even if your intentions are good, they may feel embarrassed by your criticism or blame, leading to adverse results. People with a long groove often doubt other people’s praise. Although they may not dislike praise, they always think others praise them with ulterior motives or for something in return. One advantage of such people is that they never blame others. For these individuals, you don't need to flatter them everywhere; give them fair criticism but avoid nitpicking deliberately. If you possess this characteristic, you should know your weakness - being too suspicious. People with a long groove are in the minority; most people have a shorter groove. Therefore, if you're unsure about recognizing this trait, it's better to offer more praise and less criticism.
