Li Na, born in 1940, was the only daughter of Mao Zedong and Jiang Qing, born in Yan'an, Shaanxi, with a native place of Xiangtan, Hunan. Li Na apparently did not follow her father Mao Zedong's surname "Mao", but instead used the surname "Li". This is because during his escape from the Chinese Nationalist Party's pursuit, Mao Zedong changed his name to "Li Desheng", so Li Na followed Mao Zedong ("Li Desheng") and took the surname "Li". Both her name "Na" and her sister Li Min's name were taken from a sentence in the Analects of Confucius: "A gentleman wishes to be slow in words but quick in actions."
