Original lyrics and music reveal a heartfelt journey
Dingxiang Xiaoxiao interprets their story through music
In an era filled with pop idols and shallow songs, we increasingly miss the likes of Teresa Teng and Faye Wong from days gone by. In this time when female duos are scarce in mainland Chinese music, we sometimes recall the Black Ducks and Youth Sweethearts combos during quiet nights. Times change, years pass, all bubbles burst—only quality music will ultimately be remembered and cherished. As we reminisce about the era when music was at the core, or lament that it's hard to return to those days, Dingxiang Xiaoxiao returns with their guitars and love.
"One Day I Will Return" is the title track of the album, composed and written by Dingxiang Xiaoxiao. It’s a simple guitar ballad. The pure and straightforward musical style of the two girls, along with their fresh and harmonious vocals, shines through the entire song. Most of the time, we just hear them sing calmly, amazed at how such a peaceful song can be so well-executed. They are Dingxiang Xiaoxiao.
They were once considered the best singers of the 2004 Super Girls. However, in today's world dominated by idol culture and shallow songs, their fresh but not overly striking appearance and their uncompromising musical style gradually faded from the public eye. Three years later, they set out again with their guitars and love, still maintaining their simple image and harmonious voices, but their music has become more mature.
Before launching this album and this song, we hesitated about giving them a new group name to signify a fresh start in their music careers. There were many names suggested, some of which everyone thought were quite good. But in the end, it always felt like something was missing. During a leisurely afternoon online, someone suddenly proposed "Dingxiang Xiaoxiao"—a combination of their individual names. This suggestion was unanimously approved by everyone who had followed their journey...
