Don't post pornographic content under the name of Web 2.0 anymore. Don't assume that you can post anything on your own blog without consequences. If inappropriate information is posted, penalties will still apply. On May 20th, Wang was arrested for posting pornographic videos and erotic novels on his personal blog, becoming the first person in Xiamen to be caught by the police for spreading pornographic content via a blog.

The blog's video click-through rate exceeded 100,000 this year.

In early May, the Xiamen Public Security Bureau's Internet Monitoring Department discovered that someone had uploaded a large amount of pornographic and obscene material and adult videos to their personal blog space on the internet. After investigation, the police traced it to a website called **Net which provided free blogs to individuals. A blog named "Night Mist" was suspected of spreading adult videos and novels with a click-through rate as high as over 100,000. It was found that the blogger was Wang, a driver for an advertising company.

"The spread of adult videos pollutes cyberspace, and for teenagers, it could lead them into deeper trouble or even towards criminal paths." The investigating officer told reporters that disseminating pornographic content on personal blogs should not be considered merely a personal act, as such actions are still subject to legal punishment.

The blogger spreads pornography to earn advertising commission

On the morning of May 20th, the special task force learned that Wang was online at a certain internet cafe. Subsequently, the officers from the Municipal Public Security Bureau's Internet Monitoring Department immediately drove there and apprehended him. "Why are the police looking for me? I haven't done anything!" When Li was captured, he was completely confused and couldn't figure out what illegal activity he had committed.

"Is it also illegal to post things on my blog?" Upon learning that he was arrested for posting adult videos on his personal blog, Wang remained puzzled.

Wang used to work for a network company. In July last year, Wang registered a personal blog space on the **Net website. The website promised that if the blog had a high click-through rate, they would give the blog owner a proportionate share of the advertising revenue earned by the website. From August last year to April this year, in order to increase the click-through rate, Wang searched the internet for more than thirty pornographic and obscene novels, as well as several adult videos, and posted them on his blog. According to statistics, the total number of clicks on the blog exceeded 100,000.

Interestingly, Wang told reporters that he felt wronged. Based on the click-through rate, the website should have paid him around 150 RMB, but until now, he hasn't received a single cent. "I didn't get any money, yet I'm wearing handcuffs."

Upon investigation, the website that provided Wang with blog space also bears relevant responsibility.
