1. In traditional Chinese large courtyard houses, there is usually a large entrance vestibule at the entry point. However, modern urban residences generally have limited space, and setting up a traditional large vestibule would obviously make the space feel cramped and difficult to maneuver. Therefore, a compromise solution is to use glass screens as partitions. This way, it can prevent external Qi from directly rushing into the living room through the main door, while also making the narrow vestibule not feel too confined.

2. The role of the vestibule in neutralizing evil influences and preventing leakage:

The major Feng Shui function of the vestibule is to neutralize the evil influences that directly rush towards the main door from outside the house.

In Feng Shui, “sha” (evil influence) is divided into two types: "Xing Sha" (form evil influence) and "Qi Sha" (energy evil influence). These are not mystical or supernatural things but rather refer to harmful shapes, similar to bad formations in the game of Go. Residents undoubtedly hope that their surroundings are picturesque and comfortable to the eye. If there are harmful shapes present, causing feelings of oppression and discomfort, then it becomes necessary to use Feng Shui methods to compensate for this, and the vestibule is an important part of resolving external evil influences in a residence.

Establishing a vestibule can buffer against form evil influences. In Feng Shui, form evil influences refer to visible ominous appearances, mainly including the following situations:

- Sharp Angle Evil Influence, also called pointed corner confrontation: When the main door directly faces the corner or sharp angle of a nearby building, it is like a wedge driving into the center of the residence, making the residents feel as if they are being pointed at by a sharp blade, finding it extremely hard to endure and feeling highly oppressed.

- Arrow Piercing the Chest: When the residence directly faces a straight road or street, rushing towards the house, it blocks the outward development momentum of the residence, forming what is known as Road Rush, also called Street Straight Rush.

- Slanting Road Direct Rush: When the residence is at a lower position, it has to bear the immense pressure of a road coming down from a higher position, like a flood cascading down, forcefully rushing into the house, making it impossible for the residents to block it.

Establishing a vestibule can also neutralize energy evil influences. Energy evil influences refer to the directions where malevolent stars arrive. Since they are intangible and cannot be observed with the naked eye like form evil influences, they can only be calculated based on Feng Shui numerology. If the homeowner belongs to the East Four group, and the main door is located in the exact west, northwest, southwest, or northeast, these four directions, the main door clashes with the homeowner. For this family, this situation represents a house carrying energy evil influences.

On the other hand, if the homeowner belongs to the West Four group, and the main door is located in the exact east, south, north, or southeast, these four directions, the main door clashes with the homeowner; for this family, this also represents a house carrying energy evil influences. If the residence encounters such a situation, then setting up a vestibule becomes an urgent matter. There are mainly two ways for the vestibule to block evil influences:

1. The vestibule can redirect the external Qi entering through the main door: originally entering from an inauspicious direction, it changes to enter from an auspicious direction, which aligns with the Feng Shui principle of seeking good fortune and avoiding misfortune. For example, for people belonging to the West Four group, if the main door is located in the inauspicious northern position, this represents a main door carrying evil influences; however, if a vestibule is added, the external Qi originally flowing from north to south now changes to flow from west to east, with the west being the auspicious direction of their birth chart.
