Traditional Feng Shui: A Modern Interpretation

China's traditional Feng Shui theory has a history of thousands of years. However, due to the long-term lack of scientific theoretical support, this excellent traditional theory fell into the quagmire of "feudal superstition." Fortunately, because of its rich experience and practicality, it has been passed down.

Today, as materialists, our attitude towards things should be based on seeking truth from facts. For things that have been passed down for thousands of years, we should conduct in-depth research and test their truths through practice. By refining and purifying them, we can utilize them to benefit humanity.

During my research and practice, I discovered many elements within traditional Feng Shui that are closely related to modern science. These elements all have undeniable connections to human health.

The Struggle Between Humans and Nature

In fact, Feng Shui originated from the struggle between humans and nature for better survival. As the saying goes, good birds choose their trees wisely, and fierce beasts select their dens carefully. An environment surrounded by mountains and water, filled with bird songs, flower fragrances, and lush green trees, naturally brings joy and relaxation. Such an environment undoubtedly benefits physical and mental health immensely. I believe that Feng Shui should be human-centered. Discussing Feng Shui without considering people is meaningless! Therefore, during our study of Feng Shui, we must absolutely not overlook the crucial factor of "people." The adverse factors we refer to—various negative energies—are defined in relation to humans. Anything detrimental to humans is considered a Feng Shui evil. In more modern terms, these are various magnetic fields, energy fields, and shapes that are harmful to humans. Is a larger, more luxurious bedroom always better?

With the continuous improvement of living standards, houses are getting bigger and bigger. Many people think that the larger the bedroom, the better; the larger the windows, the better; the more ventilated and brighter the house, the better. Actually, all of these ideas are extremely wrong!

Unrestful Sleepers

On the eighth day of the lunar New Year, I was invited to visit a luxury villa in Shunde. It turned out to be an excellent subject for this article. This villa covers 250 square meters, with three and a half floors of luxurious decoration. It hadn't officially been moved into yet, but they had stayed there for a few days over the New Year to receive visiting relatives and friends.

Skipping the small talk, when I entered their bedroom, I couldn’t help but be shocked! Wow, this bedroom was over 60 square meters large, with a row of large windows on the southeast side, a big balcony on the southwest side, and a large-screen back-projection TV directly facing the bed. I loudly said, "This room cannot be lived in!" The owner's wife asked, "Why?" I confidently replied, "You must not have slept well these past few days! This kind of room will cause insomnia, vivid dreams, laziness in getting up, fatigue! In the future, your physical condition will continuously decline, arguments are inevitable, and financial loss and bad luck will follow one after another!" At this point, the owner couldn't help but speak up. He said, "I was just thinking about sleeping at my old house tonight." I looked at him questioningly.

He continued, "I've slept here for ten nights, and five of those nights were restless! I woke up eight or ten times each night. I can't stay here anymore! I need to go back to my old house! I surrender!"... Spending several million yuan and working hard to build such a luxurious mansion, yet being unable to live in it, you can imagine how he felt... Below, I will provide a more detailed explanation of the six major flaws in modern bedroom design. I hope after reading this article, it will be helpful for your home arrangement.

Bedrooms Shouldn't Be Too Large
