Nanjing Morning Post, May 27th report:
At 3 PM yesterday afternoon, a shocking scene left Mr. Wang, a citizen passing by the slow lane in front of Nanjing Hotel on Zhongshan North Road speechless: A bunch of hundred-yuan banknotes were floating in the air. A fashionably dressed girl was crying "Wuwu" while bending over desperately to pick up the money on the ground. As she picked it up, she cried and scolded the boy beside her: "What are you doing? What are you doing? Are you throwing it?" The boy just stood there without helping the girl pick up the money, and instead argued with her: "Why don't you pick it up, let's go home..."
Citizen Mr. Wang said that at that time, the girl had been holding the money when the boy snatched it and ran away. The girl chased after him and snatched the money back. The boy became very angry, hit the girl, and scattered the money on the ground.
"It's obvious that this young couple or perhaps newlyweds were arguing. This shouldn't happen," said Mr. Liu who passed by on his bicycle. He shouted at the scene: "Quickly pick up the money, it's such a waste if it gets blown away by the wind. Arguing is one thing, but don't take it out on the money!"
After the girl picked up all the money, the onlookers kindly consoled the two and asked them what happened. The girl sobbed: "We've agreed to get married, and we were going to the restaurant to book the banquet for today afternoon. We brought 10,000 yuan in cash. He wanted to book 20 tables, but I thought it wasn't enough, so I suggested booking 25 tables. He refused and started arguing with me. Then we left the hotel while arguing. After leaving the hotel, he immediately snatched the money from my hand. I caught up and grabbed it back. He got mad and threw all the money on the ground and refused to pick it up." Citizens criticized the boy: "You're about to celebrate your wedding, why are you still arguing?" The boy looked委屈 (wronged): "The money for the wedding banquet comes from our family. There's no need for five extra tables, right?"
As they spoke, they began to argue again on the street. The boy pulled the girl, claiming that he would talk to her family.
