Lead vocalist Bert McCracken's unique and soul-stirring voice is back, and the songs on the new album are still filled with catharsis and passion as ever. I really like The Used's style, which perfectly combines two seemingly contradictory elements: a clear and distinct vocal timbre with hysterical lyrics. Additionally, something special like the "Sound Effects And Overdramatics" from the *In Love And Death* album, where it suddenly inserts an amused but helpless laugh followed by the word "smile" at the end, making it both playful and slightly "neurotic." This mischievous element can still be heard in tracks from the new album, such as *The Bird and the Worm* and *Liar Liar*.
