"Sword Butterfly" is a youth idol epic that brings together talents from mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, including Wu Jun, Charlene Choi, Hu Ge, and Leehom Wang. The film takes its background from the classic romantic love story of Liang Zhu, incorporating the spirit of Chinese martial arts swordsmanship. Its ending draws inspiration from "Romeo and Juliet," using period costumes to narrate a love story about how "love becomes romantic through chivalry, and chivalry becomes eternal for love." It hopes to lead audiences to new interpretations and perspectives on love.

Plot Introduction:

Zhu Yanzhi (played by Charlene Choi), the young lady of the Zhu family who owns a prosperous wine business, has a lively and cheerful personality. She often dresses as a man and roams around the city for amusement.

Yanzhi’s father had a past feud with Qian Rongwei, who later became a high-ranking official. Qian framed him and wanted to take over Yanzhi. Fortunately, they were helped by the newly promoted young general Ma Cheng'en and Yanzhi's father's old friend Grass Head. They arranged for Yanzhi, disguised as a man, to be placed in Xiaoyao Mountain to learn martial arts and avoid danger temporarily.

Initially naive and innocent about the ways of the world, Yanzhi was targeted by several bandit groups but fortunately met the young knight Liang Zhongshan (played by Wu Jun) who came to her rescue. However, Yanzhi mistakenly thought he was a thief, leaving a bad impression on her. After arriving at Xiaoyao Mountain, Yanzhi discovered that Liang Zhongshan was actually the eldest disciple of the Xiaoyao Sect, becoming sworn brothers and sisters in arms. As they spent more time together, a deep friendship developed between Zhongshan and Yanzhi. Once, when Yanzhi was injured, Zhongshan uncovered her secret of being a woman, and they officially began their romantic relationship. Cheng'en gained military merit and was promoted, then went to propose marriage to Zhu's father, which was accepted.

As Yanzhi was about to return home, she made a vow to marry Zhongshan. However, Yanzhi refused the arranged marriage, which was rejected by her father, and she was locked up in the woodshed with chains.

Later, Zhongshan sneaked into the Zhu residence at night. The two finally met and planned to pretend to agree to the marriage and escape at an opportune moment, but unfortunately, the plan failed, forcing Yanzhi to break off relations with Zhongshan.

In despair, Grass Head suggested that Yanzhi fake her death with poison to escape the marriage. However, Grass Head was killed on his way to inform Zhongshan. When Zhongshan heard the news of Yanzhi's death, he was heartbroken and broke into the Zhu residence to take away Yanzhi's body. In the end, Zhongshan repelled Ma Cheng'en and took Yanzhi away.

Zhongshan carried Yanzhi's body back to Butterfly Valley but died from severe injuries. Yanzhi woke up, overwhelmed with grief. She tightly held onto Zhongshan's body and decided to spend her entire life with him in Butterfly Valley.
