Introduction:

Maria (Julie Andrews) is a young and lively nun who loves to sing loudly in nature, so she often forgets the rules of the convent. The Mother Abbess believes that Maria does not belong in the strictly regulated convent. After consulting with other nuns, the Mother Abbess decides to send Maria to work as a governess for a family led by Captain von Trapp (Christopher Plummer).

The captain's wife had passed away many years ago, leaving behind seven children, whom he demands to be strictly disciplined. He tells Maria that none of the previous governesses have lasted long in his home due to the children’s pranks. True to form, Maria also becomes a victim of their mischief. However, this kind-hearted teacher does not inform their father but instead cares for the children like a mother, quickly bonding with them. Under Maria's influence, the captain gradually changes his attitude towards the children. As feelings develop between Maria and the captain, they eventually marry and return to Austria, which has been occupied by the Nazis. The captain refuses to cooperate with the Nazis, and the family plans to escape...
