According to Variety, "This was an unexpected outcome": Because the Swedish thriller "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," which began screening at the end of last month, has been successful at the box office, Yellow Bird Productions and SVT have decided to shoot two sequels and target the global film market.
"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) will have two sequels titled "The Girl Who Played with Fire" (The Girl Who Played with Fire) and "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest" (The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest). Originally, the production company did not plan to make them into a movie trilogy but instead intended to produce them as mini-series. However, the box office success of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" in the Nordic region of Scandinavia changed their minds.
"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" premiered in Denmark and Sweden on February 27, then in Norway on March 13, and finally in Finland on March 27. Currently, the number of viewers in Sweden has exceeded 1.5 million, and the total box office revenue in Denmark and Norway is approximately $21 million.
Producer Soren Stermose said: "We will immediately contact all distributors around the world who want to purchase the screening rights for the first movie, and we will also start negotiating the second and third parts."

Part 2 Synopsis:
The film is adapted from the second book of Swedish novelist Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy, following "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo."
In "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," the enigmatic woman Lisbeth Salander becomes the most notorious and controversial fugitive in all of Sweden in "The Girl Who Played with Fire!" She discovers that the most effective way to prevent fear from approaching is to imagine things that empower her. So she closes her eyes and imagines the smell of gasoline...
Two freelance writers preparing an explosive report for Millennium magazine and a well-regarded lawyer are brutally murdered in their homes, leaving behind Lisbeth Salander's fingerprints on the weapon. Her unpredictable history of violent behavior makes her the obvious suspect, a dangerous individual. But no matter how tight the police defenses are, she vanishes like she's evaporated into thin air.
Did she really commit the murders? And where has she hidden herself? Will there be another victim? As the investigation deepens, Salander's unknown dark past begins to unravel... No matter what the truth may be, Salander refuses to be a helpless victim. She is an avenging angel—her justified anger will descend upon those who have harmed her. The ending will shock and move you again!
Part 3 Synopsis:
Salander is planning her revenge against a man who tried to kill her and against the government that nearly destroyed her life. But it won't be a simple task. After taking a bullet to the head, Salander is under close supervision and faces charges of three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder. With the help of journalist Mikael Blomkvist and Millennium magazine, Salander must not only prove her innocence but also expose and condemn political corruption. This very corruption in politics has made the vulnerable victims of abuse and violence. As a victim herself, Salander is ready to fight back.
