Synopsis: Bianca (played by Larisa Oleynik) is considered the sweetheart of the entire school, but in reality, she has never been on a single date — her father's strict discipline makes it impossible for boys to approach her.

After persistent protests from his daughters, their father finally "compromises," stating that Bianca can go on dates only if her older sister Kate (Julia Stiles) does as well. Upon hearing this news, Cameron (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), who secretly loves Bianca, resolves to find someone, no matter what it takes, to go on a date with Kate. After much deliberation, he enlists the help of Patrick (Heath Ledger).

Kate, however, is seen by everyone as a monster — cynical and perpetually dissatisfied with everyone and everything. Making the date work will be an unprecedented challenge, perhaps even an impossible mission.
