Synopsis: On July 20, 1969, American Neil Armstrong successfully landed on the moon aboard Apollo 11, taking a significant step for humanity. At the same time, veteran astronaut Jim Lovell (Tom Hanks) and his family and friends were closely following this historic moment on television. Jim had flown near the moon aboard Apollo 8, and he also hoped to achieve his dream of landing on the moon within his lifetime. This moment came soon, just three months later, when Jim was appointed as the commander of Apollo 13. He would join his partners Fred Haise (Bill Paxton) and Jack Swigert (Kevin Bacon) in another flight to the moon. Filled with hope, they never expected the endless trials that lay ahead...
