To prepare for an upcoming surgery, Shō comes to his great-aunt’s house (Voiced by Keiko Takada) located in a remote countryside area to recuperate. His great-aunt's house is nestled in a serene forest and is a European-style villa over a hundred years old. Besides the great-aunt and maid Oshige (Voiced by Kirin Kiki), there also lives a unique family of three – "The Borrowers" - little Arrietty (Voiced by Mirai Shida), her father (Voiced by Tomokazu Miura) and mother (Voiced by Shinobu Otake). They live under the floorboards of the villa, only a few centimeters tall, leading a life undetected by humans. When they need daily necessities, they stealthily enter the kitchen at night to borrow them. Shō accidentally catches sight of Arrietty's figure, he attempts to get closer to these legendary tiny people but unknowingly disturbs their way of life...
