Synopsis:

Centuries ago, Dr. Parnassus (Christopher Plummer) was a highly respected monk who told timeless stories in remote wilderness isolated from the world. One day, the devil Mr. Nick (Tom Waits) appeared uninvited. Tempted by him, Dr. Parnassus made a bet with the devil and eventually gained eternal life as he wished.

Now, Dr. Parnassus travels around with his magical circus troupe, which consists of his daughter Valentina (Lily Cole), young Anton (Andrew Garfield), and dwarf Percy (Verne Troyer). As Valentina is about to turn 16, Mr. Nick reappears. Originally, Dr. Parnassus had fallen in love with a woman (Lily Cole), but eternal life did not come with eternal youth. To stay with his beloved, he made another foolish bet with the devil. The price for his restored youth was to give his firstborn child to the devil.
