Synopsis:

Sam (Tobey Maguire) goes to the prison to pick up his brother Tommy (Jake Gyllenhaal), who has just been released after serving his sentence. Upon returning home, their mother warmly welcomes them, but their father mocks and scolds Tommy. Sam serves in the U.S. Marine Corps and is sent to Afghanistan; thus, this gathering is not only a welcome-home party for Tommy but also a farewell for Sam. Their father always compares the perfect Sam with the underachieving Tommy, which causes Tommy to storm off angrily. Sam reluctantly says goodbye to his beloved wife Grace (Natalie Portman) and their two daughters before heading off to battle.

Tragically, the Black Hawk helicopter he was on gets shot down, and Sam, along with his subordinates, are captured. Intimidated by the brutal threats of the Afghan militants, Sam is forced to kill one of his own men, an act that leaves him deeply conflicted. Believing Sam to be dead, the family mourns in sorrow. Determined to change himself, Tommy wakes up to the reality and begins integrating back into the family. Not only does his relationship with his father improve, but he also forms a subtle bond with Grace and the children, providing each other emotional support.

Just as the family starts to heal, news arrives that Sam is still alive...

This film is a remake of the 2004 movie "Blood Sea Brothers."
