Introduction:
This film tells a story set in China during the Anti-Japanese War at the end of the 1930s. George Hogg, a British journalist, unfortunately encounters the Japanese army committing cruel massacres in the Nanjing area. In order to tell the world the truth about the war, he delves into the battlefield for coverage and is captured by the Japanese army. Later, he is rescued by Jack Chen of the New Fourth Army. While recuperating after his escape, he meets more than 60 orphans who survived the massacre. Despite the language barrier, George takes on the responsibility of caring for these children. As the war draws closer, to prevent the children from being harmed again, George and Jack resolutely lead these more than 60 Chinese orphans on a journey of over a thousand kilometers along the ancient Silk Road, enduring hardships and crossing snow-capped mountains to reach the edge of the desert to evade the war. They then face new life stories... On the set of "The Children of Huangshi," Jerry Gewargen is the director's right-hand man, the supreme "grand steward" in charge of everything from the scene to logistics. His position in the crew is First Assistant Director, which literally translates to First Deputy Director in Chinese. However, this "First Deputy Director" has much more power than their counterparts domestically. This position is equivalent to a "Prime Minister," overseeing everything from the front lines to the rear. Jerry has spent his entire life in this line of work, from the Star Wars and Superman films of the 1970s, to The Elephant Man and Magic Hour in the 1980s, and onto Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Troy in the early 2000s, making him the world's "First Deputy Director."
