Recently, shocking news has been revealed about the spy drama "Sneaking", starring Yao Chen and Sun Honglei. It turns out that the actor "Zhang Guofeng", who played an important supporting role as "Sheng Xiang" in the series, is actually Ji Sixiang, a wanted police-assaulting robber for 13 years.
On the evening of December 6, 1998, Detective Yang Lin of the Tiefeng Branch of Qiqihar Public Security Bureau and his wife were followed by three thugs who attempted to rob them. After the incident, the Qiqihar and Tiefeng district public security organs quickly formed a special investigation team and captured suspect Wei Mou who was probing for information. Within two days, Li Mou and Liu Mou were also arrested. However, another suspect, Ji Sixiang, had managed to escape.
On December 7, 2011, according to clues provided by informants, Ji Sixiang's whereabouts were discovered in Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province: there was a man with a Northeastern accent who could also speak Zhejiang dialect. His appearance, age, and physical characteristics were extremely similar to Ji Sixiang. After careful identification from multiple sources, the police confirmed that this person was indeed the fugitive Ji Sixiang.
In order to capture Ji Sixiang as soon as possible, on December 7, the arrest team employed various strategies, tracked down leads, and ultimately locked onto Ji Sixiang's location. They conducted a comprehensive search and surveillance of all possible hiding spots and targeted key areas for stakeouts. After a period of waiting, the police arrested the 39-year-old suspect Ji Sixiang in Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province.
Upon interrogation, Ji Sixiang confessed to the crime of assaulting police officers and robbing guns. He admitted that to evade punishment, he fled to Shenzhen and other places before eventually "going underground" in Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province. He changed his identity to "Zhang Guofeng", claiming to be from Shandong, and lived incognito. Initially, he made a living as an extra at Hengdian World Studios in Jinhua, Zhejiang. Due to his prior experience in broadcasting and hosting, he believed he had a natural talent and thought being an actor was better than working manual labor. The responsible person gave Ji Sixiang several role auditions and was satisfied each time, so they decided to keep him.
Because of his acting talent and "chivalrous" personality, he quickly gained favor with many directors. A famous director even cast him in multiple TV dramas as supporting roles, allowing him to move beyond playing mere extras. During his years on the run, the suspect Ji Sixiang played supporting roles in several TV dramas, including the role of Director of Archives of the Confidential Bureau "Sheng Xiang" in "Sneaking", a major spy in "Oriental Red 1949", the eunuch Cui Ran in "The Divine Doctor Dadaogong", and multiple supporting roles in recently aired films and TV dramas such as "Secret History of Wu Zetian" and "Tang Palace Beauties in the World".
When asked if he feared being recognized on television, Ji Sixiang said that on one hand, more than ten years had passed, and his appearance had changed somewhat. On the other hand, although he played different supporting roles in over 30 TV dramas, appearing frequently on screen, each character was different and his lines were few. Initially, he was somewhat worried, but as time went by, his concerns gradually diminished. However, he never dared to watch himself on TV; whenever a TV drama he starred in was broadcast, he would immediately change the channel, fearing that one day he might be discovered by the police. Even upon his arrest, he was still filming a new TV series, "Shaolin Tiger", where he played a monk, and the show had already filmed over 30 scenes.
