Plot Summary:
At over seventy years old, Zhao Yun comes out of retirement to help Liu Bei conquer Wei and Wu once again. However, he finds himself besieged on Fengming Mountain, facing his ultimate final battle. As he reflects on his life under the setting sun, flashes of battles filled with blood and storm, as well as moments of joy, laughter, sorrow, and grief from his military career, pass before the old general's eyes.
During the turbulent times of the Three Kingdoms, the powerful Wei army invades. Zhao Yun, a newly appointed engineer soldier, meets Luo Ping'an, an older fellow townsman who fights for justice. They hit it off immediately, sharing their aspirations amidst the chaos. Following the strategy of Shu's military advisor Zhuge Liang, which involves attacking as a means of defense, Zhao Yun volunteers for a raiding mission and successfully disrupts the enemy, earning great merit. In the Battle of Changban, to prevent Luo Ping'an from being executed for losing Liu Bei's wife and child, Zhao Yun single-handedly charges into Cao's camp, rescuing the young lord, thus becoming famous in one battle.
Because of his "Single Rider Saving the Lord" feat, Zhao Yun is entrusted with important responsibilities. He joins General Huang Zhong, an elder statesman and uppermost Shu general, in the campaign for Dingjun Mountain. This battle sees heavy losses due to enemy cunning, but at a critical moment, Zhao Yun arrives just in time to save Huang Zhong and Luo Ping'an. With Zhuge Liang's clever plan, Zhao Yun burns down the enemy's food supplies, earning him another great achievement. Zhao Yun is promoted to one of the Five Tiger Generals, while Luo Ping'an feels mixed emotions about this.
Time flies, and among the Five Tiger Generals, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Ma Chao, and Huang Zhong have all passed away. Now with gray hair, Zhuge Liang devises another grand plan to annihilate the Cao Wei forces. Refusing to admit his age, Zhao Yun insists on serving as the vanguard general. Unexpectedly, his formidable opponent this time is Cao Ying, the granddaughter of Cao Cao. Beautiful as snow, she is skilled in archery and horsemanship, wise and brave. Leading an army of 100,000 soldiers, she aims to capture Zhao Yun alive to fulfill her grandfather's wish. Torn between love and hatred, Luo Ping'an makes a decision that will haunt him forever — he betrays Zhao Yun's last expedition plans to Cao Ying.
The highly intelligent Zhuge Liang also uses Zhao Yun as a decoy to lure the enemy. He hopes that the great battle between Cao Ying and Zhao Yun will allow him to secretly transport troops and capture the main city of Wei's six commanderies within three hours. At this crucial moment, what should Zhao Yun do?
