The story of "Love Trees" took place in the ten years between 1994 and 2004. After graduation, Kang Kai decided to give his wife Shang Jie, who was a hostess, a stable life. So he gave up his major proactively and started a small restaurant. But his wife had an unhappy relationship with a modern poet, which became a heavy psychological burden for her. At last, she jumped off a building and committed suicide because she could not face her honest and simple husband Kang Kai and her newly-born child.
