The story takes place in 1999, when the South Korean economy was in a slump. Min-ki, a bank clerk, is a victim of the economic downturn as he gets laid off and becomes unemployed, spending his days idly reading novels in bookstores to pass the time. His wife, Bo-ra, is a strong-willed career woman who feels nothing but disdain for her aimless husband. Around this time, Bo-ra reconnects with an old flame, and their relationship quickly reignites with great passion. Although Bo-ra doesn't want to abandon her family for the affair, juggling between the two relationships causes her immense distress. Min-ki accidentally discovers his wife's infidelity. Despite enduring intense inner turmoil, he finds himself ultimately unable to forgive her. It seems that only death could offer him relief... Thus, he meticulously plans to murder his wife and frame her lover.
