In an old building facing demolition, only a few households remain: Fat Chou (played by Simon Yam) and his wife凤儿(A Feng) who lost both her legs in a car accident (played by Grace Guan), the delusional young artist Bao (played by Kelvin Pang) and his girlfriend Zhi (played by Charmaine Shek), the trio Fuk Lok Sau who are chronic gamblers, and a trash-collecting grandma living on the rooftop (played by Ping Ha).
On the other side of the street, there is a hotpot restaurant where Fat Chou, Zhi, and Chong (played by Wai Cheung黎耀祥) all work. Chong is an employee who loves gambling but always loses, resulting in heavy debts; while Bao idles his days away, preferring to smoke marijuana and often loiters around the hotpot restaurant.
Although Fat Chou and A Feng live a hard life, their relationship is very good. A Feng understands that she cannot satisfy Fat Chou's physical needs, so she allows him to hire prostitutes. One day, Fat Chou mistakenly hires a prostitute named Jiao Jiao (played by Wendy Ng), which puts his relationship with A Feng at risk.
As for Chong, due to his gambling debts, he becomes homeless and has no choice but to seek refuge with Bao. In the old building, he meets the trio Fuk Lok Sau. They watch soccer matches and play mahjong together. That night, Chong ends up as a big winner and, following advice from the trio, also wins betting on soccer games. Chong thinks moving in here has brought him good luck, not realizing that bad luck is just beginning.
One day, while smoking marijuana on a hill, Bao encounters a little girl whose appearance causes him to have hallucinations, seeing another girl named Nana (played by慧君Peng) repeatedly. His girlfriend Zhi then starts acting like a double-faced person, sometimes gentle and sometimes fierce. Later, Bao's friend Newspaper Boy notices that the pendant the little girl wears looks familiar...
The incidents encountered by these few households are observed by the trash-collecting grandma and Uncle Zhong. Uncle Zhong can only sympathize helplessly, while Grandma keeps trying to enlighten everyone, unfortunately, they fail to understand...
