The plot of "Scent of a Woman" is actually about the stories of two men.

Charlie is a student at Bell Middle School, straightforward and shy by nature. He has been given the opportunity to further his studies at Harvard University. In order to earn enough money to go home for Christmas, Charlie takes a job taking care of retired Colonel Slade, who is blind. Due to his blindness, Slade is irritable every day, and he wants Charlie to accompany him on a wild weekend in New York. By chance, Charlie witnesses a prank pulled by several classmates at school. The principal asks Charlie to reveal their names, but Charlie refuses, leading to an impending inquiry from the school.

The plot presents a choice: either compromise or adhere to principles. What was once a peaceful academic journey is now filled with turmoil. Life forces one to make a decision. Frank Slade is a retired officer who has lost his sight and along with it, trust in humanity and the courage to live. He locks his heart away in infinite darkness and decides to end his life with dignity after completing a final, fleeting journey. Fate brings them together at a crossroads in life, where they each mend the other's wounds in different ways, allowing their differing lives to redeem each other and ultimately arrive at the same conclusion. An unexpected encounter, a "sexy" tango, a reckless drive, and a passionate speech fully outline the entire process of life transitioning from "destruction" to "rebirth."
