Shijie (played by Jay Chou) is an orphan who upholds justice and dislikes bullying. He was adopted by the old principal of Kung Fu University and learned martial arts from a young age. He has excellent kung fu skills and also possesses the incredible "mid-range shooting" talent. Unfortunately, he doesn't get along with the new principal, Zhu Biao, and ends up being used as a "human punching bag" for practice. Even the four great masters didn't intervene to help him. The new principal of Kung Fu University loves money and is very snobbish. Of course, he can't stand Shijie using the name of the old principal's adopted son to eat and drink for free at the school. Naturally, he would find excuses to frame Shijie and expel him from the school.

After wandering to the park, Shijie accidentally showcased his "mid-range shooting" talent and caught the eye of Wang Li, the "park thug zone" boss. Wang Li took advantage of Shijie being an orphan and lured him with promises that "playing basketball could bring fame, and after becoming famous, he might find his family," deceiving Shijie into playing basketball. Wang Li planned to profit from Shijie's fame and benefits gained through his "mid-range shooting" skills in basketball, pocketing the profits for himself.

After convincing Shijie to play basketball, Wang Li brought Shijie to the First University to persuade Principal Zhou to let Shijie join the team. Shijie went all out to catch Lily's attention, but unfortunately, Lily's focus was entirely on Xiao Feng, the star player of the basketball team. Therefore, Shijie vowed to make Xiao Feng look bad on the basketball court. As a result, during every game, an odd phenomenon occurred: even though they were supposed to cooperate against external enemies, Shijie kept picking fights with his teammate Xiao Feng.
