"The Lustful Monk" is the world's number one banned book, and for centuries Chinese people have only secretly read it. Ximen Rou (played by Li Lijan) is forced by her father Ximen Jian (played by Xu Jinjiang) to wear a chastity armor with a mechanism as a condition for studying abroad with scholar Hua Dao. Hua Dao becomes overly lustful and injures his lower body with the chastity armor. Jian sees the pitiful bride Xiaocui (played by Qi Shu) and becomes overly lustful, possessing Xiaocui during a stormy night. Later, he sneaks around every night to have secret affairs with Xiaocui. A series of murders happen in the Ximen family, and famous detective Tie Zhongtang (played by Wu Yijiang) points out in front of everyone that Xiaocui is actually the incarnation of an illusionary spirit. However, Tie Zhongtang is tricked, and after being drugged with a potent aphrodisiac, can only preserve his life by having Li Rou sacrifice herself... This is another work by Li Lijan after "When a Peach Blossoms," also the first adult film in Hong Kong for Qi Shu, and a piece directed by the renowned Hong Kong director Wong Jing, who is a versatile director describing himself as a "movie businessman."
The passionate scene between Li Lijan and Qi Shu at the end of the film is quite classic, not to mention that the story itself is interesting and captivating. Qi Shu and Li Lijan almost replaced Ye Yukwing's status in Hong Kong adult films.
