Synopsis:
tells the story of the autumn of 1949 when a certain unit of the People's Liberation Army marched south to attack and eliminate the last remaining Nationalist forces in Yunnan, Guizhou, and Sichuan provinces, passing through Xiangxi. After Military Cultural Troupe Director Liang Ziyun led her cultural troupe members in presenting an inspiring mobilization performance for the entire army about to set off, five cultural troupe members including Liang Ziyun were mysteriously abducted by bandits. Enraged, the army commander ordered Reconnaissance Company Commander Zheng Huchen (played by Wang Ting) to raid the bandit lair and rescue the cultural troupe members. Zheng Huchen, a hero soldier who originally thought that with the decisive action of his reconnaissance company brothers, experienced many years of warfare, they would quickly resolve the situation and complete the final battle to liberate all of China with the main force, soon found himself trapped in the mountains of Xiangxi. Facing the "ten thousand mountains and ten thousand bandits" of Xiangxi, facing the last base of the Nationalists attempting a counterattack, and facing local militia leaders Gu Ruochong (played by Du Zhiguo) and Gu Tianxiang (played by Ye Jing) who refuse to cooperate, the less than ten-man anti-bandit special operations team was like a lone child surrounded by a pack of wolves, with no hope of survival.
