Plot summary:

Wen Ji in her thirties had a sexual relationship with Xuan, a minor teenager about ten years younger than her, and she was imprisoned for it. In the eyes of the world, she is seen as a sex-crazed person who lures teenagers and a woman demon who corrupts public morals. But in Xuan's eyes, she is the only person worth loving. After being released from prison, Wen Ji and Xuan lived together again. In a small hotel, they did nothing but eat and make love. Although there were some small conflicts, the small hotel was still a paradise outside the world. They expressed their love that transcends age most directly through desire, but who can say that desire is not a part of love?

Wen Ji is straightforward and naive, more like a mischievous child. Xuan's love for Wen Ji is sincere and monogamous. But this age-defying romance is after all under too much pressure, and both parties are trapped in contradictions. After a quarrel, they decided to break up. Wen Ji went to her friend Zheng Na's house and cried over her breakup with Xuan, but Xuan magically appeared by her side. Originally, both of them deeply loved each other and couldn't bear to break up. So Wen Ji and Xuan started living carefree lives at Zheng Na's house. But will the young and beautiful Zheng Na develop feelings for Xuan? And can they continue this age-defying romance? Everything is still uncertain...

Film review:

The film is adapted from a real case in 2000: a 30-year-old married woman was imprisoned for having an "inverse aid exchange" affair with a high school student more than 10 years younger. This "old cow eating tender grass" case caused a sensation in South Korea. Steven Soderbergh found out about the incident on the internet and sent an email to Park Cheolsu asking why it wasn't made into a movie. Thus, the story behind the incident unfolded.

In the film, the director symbolizes the two protagonists, aiming to express a sincere love and desire. In the first half of the film, scenes of Wen Ji and Xuan making love and eating are everywhere. In the second half, the relationship between Wen Ji, Xuan, and Zheng Na is handled ambiguously. The director does not actually show the relationship between Zheng Na and Xuan, but leaves the thinking to the audience. This deepens the discussion beyond sibling romance, expanding the nature of desire...

There are twenty-eight days left before Zhe becomes an adult. Wen Ji was released from prison and came to a secluded small village with Zhe, wanting to quietly pass the time. This pair of lovers fourteen years apart also have a hard time, fortunately Zhe's optimistic nature and Wen Ji's extraordinary courage. So they hold hands standing on the edge of morality waiting, waiting for their romance to become "reasonable". In Wen Ji and Zhe's hearts, the wish has become simple and real. As long as Zhe becomes an adult, the bright sunshine will be the place where they can stroll leisurely. Wen Ji no longer needs to be sent to prison, and Zhe can proudly take his beloved woman out to bars.

I don't know what difference these twenty-eight days make in terms of the essence of love for the two people, maybe it just allows them to be more at ease in front of others. Wen Ji's stubbornness and girlish mentality are really charming, she loves Zhe in a way that is both elder-like and lover-like. The sibling romance developed between the two can also be considered a normal way, even though when Wen Ji walked out of the police station, a group of reporters surrounded her to take pictures, Zhe walked forward to put a coat on her shoulders, then hugged her into the car. I originally thought that women would start lamenting their fate because of this, but unexpectedly Wen Ji said: "I'm hungry." Then, the two went to a restaurant and had a big meal. I like Wen Ji's coquettish sense of humor, which is probably one of the reasons why Zhe fell in love with her.

Despite Wen Ji and Zhe escaping the "scrutiny" of the city, they still cannot escape the psychological "moral condemnation", what should come will always come, such as the girl who has been pursuing Zhe often calls his mobile phone; and Wen Ji always suspects that Zhe has a private affair with his girlfriend. No matter how the storm comes, it cannot be avoided. But the greatness of Wen Ji and Zhe lies in their choice to go against the current, so on the twenty-eighth day, Wen Ji held a special coming-of-age ceremony for Zhe. Therefore, all the people opposing the two were invited to this party.

Both parents of Zhe and Wen Ji, the girl who has been pursuing Zhe, Wen Ji's ex-husband, and the police officer who initially arrested Wen Ji. All the conflicts were concentrated, this pair of lovers who have already had a hard time walking wore deep black couples' outfits, waiting for everyone's recognition. That was a comedy war without gunpowder, Wen Ji's actions were almost equivalent to a challenge. I like such spirited women, facing the world neither humble nor arrogant, the slight smile at the corner of her mouth carries a bit of contempt. Her "great feat" trampled all the troubles about "sibling romance" underfoot, in fact, love should be that simple.

Zhe also has his own thoughts, his tall and strong body tells us that he is actually already an adult. These boring twenty-eight days cannot change anything, this clean and handsome boy defeated Wen Ji's ex-husband, and used his kind face to dispel all doubts. At midnight twelve o'clock, Zhe's coming-of-age ceremony ended, starting from that minute, he became an adult with autonomy rights. The first thing to do autonomously is to hold Wen Ji tightly, like holding the happiness that should have belonged to him long ago. I always guess what he whispers in Wen Ji's ear, maybe it is: "Come on, it's fine, let the storm come harder!"

Epilogue: Are you in love? Are you sure you love? Are you sure you love him or her? Then are you afraid? When the person who was not born when you started to understand worldly affairs suddenly walks behind you, planning to use his immature shoulders to carry your romance, are you afraid? When your charm is intercepted by his youthful arrogance in the torrent of time, is this ethical confrontation still sweet?
