Shijie (played by Jay Chou) is an orphan who stands up for justice and hates injustice. He was adopted by the old principal of Kung Fu University and has learned martial arts since he was young. He has a great set of skills and also the "mid-range shot" trick, but unfortunately, he doesn't get along with the new principal Zhu Biao, and is used as a "human punching bag" for practice. Even the four kung fu masters don't step in to help him. The new principal of Kung Fu University, who loves money and is snobbish, naturally can't stand Shijie claiming to be the old principal's son and eating for free at the school. Of course, he will find excuses to accuse Shijie and expel him from the school.

After wandering to the park, Shijie accidentally shows off his "mid-range shot" skills and is spotted by Wang Li, the leader of the "Park Hooligans". Thus, Shijie swears that he must make Xiao Feng look bad on the basketball court. On the other hand, Li Tian, a traitor in the basketball world, has personal grudges with the Tyrannosaurus. Disliking how First University has become increasingly powerful due to Shijie's addition, he challenges them to a match and collaborates with Councilman Bi, who uses his high position to buy land and make profits. Li Tian vows to utterly defeat First University. After going through countless hardships, they finally win the game. In the end, Shijie marries Lily, has children, and lives happily ever after.
