"Beyond Time Box" is the latest insane and hilarious masterpiece by Lau Ching-wai, produced jointly by Pearl River Movie Film-making Co., Ltd., Beijing Little Horse Galloping Movie Co., Ltd. and Beijing Bona Culture Exchange Co., Ltd., gathering 58 comedy stars from the Chinese film industry. The movie tells a story of a fool who travels back in time from modern days to the era of Red Cliff with a box. There is only one character difference between "Beyond Time Box" and "Moonlight Box" from the previous "A Chinese Odyssey" series. Lau Ching-wai said that the reason for using the character "yue" (beyond) was to indicate the concept of time travel in the movie. The relationship between "Beyond Time Box" and "A Chinese Odyssey" remains unclear.

Since the name of this movie is only one character different from "A Chinese Odyssey", it raises suspicions about their ambiguous relationship. However, the lead actor Eric Tsang denied any similarities between himself and the character "Chun Tin宝" previously played by Stephen Chow. When asked why he chose the name "Beyond Time Box", Lau Ching-wai said that "yue" means "time travel", and the story is completely different from "Moonlight Box". Although it is not considered a sequel to "A Chinese Odyssey", the story of this movie actually comes from two treasures of Purple Fairy: the Purple-Blue Sword and the Moonlight Box. Rose Fairy steals the Purple-Blue Sword out of admiration for the love between Purple Fairy and Chun Tin宝, hoping to find the predestined love. She helps the male lead, the bandit Qing Yise (played by Eric Tsang), obtain the Moonlight Box, leading to a crazy time-travel story. It can be said that these two fairy beauties connect the story of "Beyond Time Box". However, under the direction of the old prankster Lau Ching-wai, one becomes a flower lover, and the other becomes the "fairy祥林嫂" of the celestial realm, forming a pair of "neurotic fairies".
