On Saturday afternoon, I went to the New Dong'an Cinema to watch Transformers. I waited in line for half an hour before I could buy a ticket, and it was only for the third row. This shows the appeal of Transformers to Chinese audiences, as everyone wants to relive the beautiful memories of their childhood.
Transformers lived up to my expectations. The special effects were realistic and breathtaking. However, after two hours of visual bombardment by special effects, and having watched it from the third row with my neck craned upwards, I truly felt a bit of "aesthetic fatigue." With its mature film industry system and leading computer image synthesis technology, Hollywood should be able to maintain its long-term leadership in the production of special effects. Clearly, the production team of this movie focused their efforts on the effects, and everything else seemed unimportant. Therefore, the storyline of this film cannot be scrutinized too carefully, as many plots appear contrived. For example, when Bumblebee was captured by Sector 7, Optimus Prime could have easily saved him but chose to sacrifice Bumblebee instead, citing the reason of not wanting to harm Earthlings. If this plot had not been arranged, Sam's emotional bond with Bumblebee would not have been so deep...
