In 1967, Sean Connery announced that this would be his last time playing Bond, so everyone worked hard to make this fifth 007 movie as perfect as possible. Before the film was released, all sorts of promotional tricks were used: James Bond will die, James Bond will get married, James Bond will become Japanese, and James Bond will finally meet the never-before-seen enemy - the head of S.P.E.C.T.R.E., Ernst Stavro Blofeld. (Yes, up to this point, Bond's enemies have been this evil organization, not Russia; the arrangement of an indestructible enemy who refuses to appear is like a glove puppet show!)
Bond's mission in this film is to uncover and stop the conspiracy behind the theft of American and Soviet space shuttles, preventing World War III. Bond teams up with two beautiful Japanese intelligence agents (played by Mie Hama and Yoko Ogawa) to track down clues leading to Blofeld's base deep within a massive volcano. The large-scale ninja attack that takes place here is the highlight of the movie.
