Plot Summary:
"Fringe" mainly tells the story of an FBI female agent, a man, and a scientist investigating mysterious scientific phenomena, some of which involve consciousness crossing over and even have sci-fi elements.
The producers revealed that the writing team has already mapped out a complete "blueprint for the second season plotline." Many questions were left unanswered at the end of the first season, with the biggest one being: how many parallel worlds actually exist? Olivia has already personally experienced one of them; will she experience another? Will the concept of "infinite earths" commonly described in most DC comics (Infinite Earths) appear in "Fringe"?
Apparently not. Jeff Pinkner explicitly denied the existence of concepts like "main earth," "earth 2," or "earth 3" in the show. The storyline of "Fringe" is limited to "our world" and "another world (parallel world)." In other words, there are only two worlds in this series, and there won't be an army of Peters from 1000 different worlds. Alex Kurtzman said he didn't expect the writing team to introduce the concept of parallel worlds so early, which was completely beyond his initial expectations.
Joshua Jackson introduced that the second season will partially reveal Peter's past. The main character relationship in the first season was "Peter and Walter's relationship," and it remains similar in the second season. Someone immediately asked a question that made the entire audience scream: will Peter and Olivia develop a romantic relationship? Would that cause trouble for their investigative work? John Noble quickly took the microphone to help Joshua Jackson step down. He said that Peter will discuss this issue with Walter in the second season, and Walter will guide Peter: relax, it won't affect anything.
The producers also confirmed that they will gradually "abandon" what is referred to as "The Pattern." You may have noticed that the term "The Pattern" was rarely mentioned in the second half of the first season. The show will move towards a "character-driven" direction and will not overly focus on "What is The Pattern" or "How to solve The Pattern."
