Introduction to Lifting the Diamond:

Lee Ji-feng (played by Lee Beom-soo), the bronze medal winner in weightlifting at the 88 Olympics, had his athletic career cut short due to injury. Apart from his muscular physique and obsession with weightlifting, he has nothing else. He arrives at a rural girls' high school as a weightlifting coach. There, he meets a group of energetic country girls.

Yeong-ja (played by Cho Ah-sung) has broad shoulders and an enviable core strength, making her body perfect for weightlifting. Hyun-jeong (played by Jeon Bo-mi) harbors a secret crush on the school's top heartthrob. Soo-eok (played by Lee Seol-pi), a model student who dreams of entering Harvard Law School and becoming an FBI agent. Yu-sun (played by Choi Moon-kyung) is a filial daughter who wants to succeed in weightlifting for her sick mother lying in bed. Bae-young (played by Kim Min-young) is always full of strength. Min-hee (played by Lee Yoon-ji), a "four-dimensional beauty" who is enchanted by her weightlifting uniform.

Despite their different personalities and appearances, these country girls share the world's strongest resilience and passion. Moved by them, Coach Lee Ji-feng gathers this group of restless kids together and sets up a dormitory for cohabitation, starting formal training for them. Under the guidance of Coach Lee Ji-feng, they gradually grow into professional weightlifters from scratch. Finally, they are ready to challenge for the Olympic gold medal.
