After graduating from college, Jiang Dawei (Andy Lau) was determined to join the police force to fight against crime and maintain public order. Dawei joined a police academy where he excelled under the strict training of Superintendent Lau (Sammo Hung). Given the increasing prevalence of drug trafficking activities, Superintendent Lau assigned Dawei as an undercover officer. Dawei infiltrated a nightclub and became a trusted assistant to the drug lord Lu Yifan (Michael Liu), all while pretending to be loyal in order to gather evidence of Lu's drug crimes.

Dawei's mother, Jiang Xia (Deanie Ip), father Qi Gan (Lau Kong), and girlfriend Wang Jiaqi (Carmen Chan) did not understand his predicament and mistakenly believed that he had fallen into a life of crime, which caused them great sorrow. Dawei endured the pressure from his family while focusing on collecting evidence. After much hardship, he successfully brought Lu to justice.
