Introduction to the plot of Tiananmen:

Tiananmen, referred to as the "Red Trilogy" by director Da Ying Ye after "Red Cherry" and "Red Lover," is currently being filmed in a tight schedule in Hengdian. The film has an investment exceeding 100 million yuan and is Da Ying Ye's grand return after a decade-long hiatus. It witnesses the grand historical moment of the founding ceremony through the perspective of a small character. In the film, leading actor Yue Ming Pan completely changes his previous refined image by wearing homespun clothes and sporting a childish bowl cut, exuding a simple and foolish charm that makes it hard to believe this is the same Zeng Shun Ya from "The Ephemeral World" or Xu Xian from "The Legend of White Snake." It is reported that filming for the movie "Tiananmen" will be completed after a grand scene involving ten thousand people, which will recreate the majestic spectacle of the founding ceremony at Tiananmen.

As a dedication film for next year's 60th anniversary of the founding of the nation, "Tiananmen" tells the story of the renovation of Tiananmen before the 1949 founding ceremony. Through the perspective of a stage design captain, it recreates this earth-shaking event. Pan informed reporters that although "Tiananmen" tells a story with the founding ceremony as its background, it is not a typical main melody film. "The film is filled with black humor and uses a special perspective to tell the stories of several small characters, reenacting that real historical moment. The film fully reflects the uniqueness and personality of the director." In Pan's view, Da Ying Ye's new work, "Tiananmen," is a surpassing masterpiece that absolutely surpasses past works like "Red Cherry" and "Red Lover." "Surpassing is definite; ten years can bring significant changes to a person's thoughts. Ten years ago, he was seen as a rascal, now he's a wise old child. After ten years, I see that he has reached a state completely different from ten years ago. 'Tiananmen' will be his surpassing masterpiece."

"Tiananmen" is also filled with black humor, making people laugh unintentionally and reflect afterward. This is also a grand production that the China Film Group will release in 2009. For such a large-scale production, Pan feels somewhat surprised to have been chosen as the male lead. "As an actor, I am very lucky. A film with historical characteristics and tasks has selected me right away, making me feel very fortunate. The director trusts me greatly, believing I can play this character well. And this character himself is very interesting, a role I've never thought of before. A small soldier suddenly receives the task to renovate Tiananmen, and then a series of stories unfold. The director uses his unique and personal perspective to dig out the traits of this character, and I follow the director's line of thinking to understand and interpret it." Pan becomes enthusiastic when talking about this leading role, indicating that playing this character has been quite satisfying.

Director Da Ying Ye believes Pan Yue Ming is a very worth-digging actor with distinct individuality and features. Although the audience sees him as a slightly artistic male actor, Pan possesses infinite possibilities. This time, Da Ying Ye wants to create a miracle through Pan.

When it comes to male leads in Da Ying Ye's films, audiences easily think of Leslie Cheung in "Red Lover," even comparing Pan with Leslie Cheung, believing they both have limitless potential to be explored. Coincidentally, in Chen Kaige's soon-to-be-released film "Farewell My Concubine," Pan's portrayal of Mei Lanfang's elder cousin lets many viewers associate him with Leslie Cheung.

Pan thinks that trying various roles as an actor is actually a good thing, broadening the actor's range. "Who says because I played a scholar well, I must play scholars forever? Playing a tough guy with a bowl cut is pretty good too." Additionally, Pan revealed that the film "Tiananmen" will recreate the magnificent scene of the founding ceremony. A grand scene involving hundreds of thousands of people will soon start shooting. To ensure authenticity, preparations for this scene have been ongoing. "I believe the director will find a way to most closely restore this almost impossible-to-recreate scene."
