Platonic love

A touching narration of the story of Iijima. Seeing the Chinese translated name "Platonic Sex", I can't help but think of Ai Iijima, the original creator of the same-name autobiography that was adapted. If you assume that Ai Iijima's life makes this movie similar to her AV actress experience, then you're wrong. This is not a real hardcore pornographic film; it can only be categorized in the erotic series (I'm not sure how people today define hardcore pornography and erotic films or where the boundary between the two lies? In fact, they are just different expressions with the same meaning). This is merely a selling point and hype needed for the movie.

This is a story of a romance sparked by text messages. Hidekazu Shimajima made bad friends and was gang-raped by friends once. Her parents scolded her harshly because of family honor, causing Hidekazu to run away from home and gradually fall to the fringes of life - engaging in compensated dating, hostessing, and becoming an AV actress. When she was extremely disheartened and even wanted to commit suicide by jumping off a building, a text message connected two possibly forever strangers, Hidekazu Shimajima and Kenichi Ito, who were both lonely and desolate - Hidekazu did not commit suicide, Kenichi did not take revenge or kill anyone, what they needed was to continue facing life. The two met by chance, started interacting, and soon Kenichi discovered that Hidekazu was working in the AV industry, leading to serious conflicts and their eventual breakup. Later, Hidekazu quit her AV job, they reunited, got entangled and tormented each other until Kenichi died while saving a child. One dead, one alive, facing different lives.
