Chris Vaughn served in the US Special Forces for 8 years. After retirement, he returned to his hometown in Washington State, preparing to take over the family timber business. However, upon returning, he realized that the former tranquility was gone. The whole town was shrouded in the shadow of crime, drugs, and violence, with an atmosphere filled with evil and fear. His father's timber yard had turned into a dirty and chaotic casino, and his former girlfriend had fallen into becoming one of the striptease dancers there. Jay Hamilton, his rival from high school, closed the once prosperous timber yard and led a group of arrogant gangsters, causing unrest and disturbing the peace of the neighbors day and night.
With the help of his old friend Ray Templeton, Chris became the sheriff of the town. He picked up the four-foot shotgun he used before, becoming a warrior for justice once again, vowing to drive the evil forces out of his hometown. However, the ambitious Hamilton would not give up so easily, thus beginning an American version of a hometown defense battle to overthrow the "tyrants."
Mr. "Rock" only makes one movie a year, but he is at the peak of his career, with a tendency to replace Arnie as the top muscle man. His experience as a professional wrestler in the US made it effortless for him to handle action movies. This film is another action movie he took on after last year's "From Dusk till Dawn," with the protagonist inspired by a real-life just hero. Buford Pusser (1937-1974), three-time Sheriff of McNairy County, Tennessee, hated corruption and exploitation and despised the collusion between both sides. He liked to use his wooden stick as a self-defense weapon and was victimized and assassinated multiple times, eventually dying at the age of 37 due to an accident.
As early as 1973, Buford Pusser's story was adapted into the biographical action film "Walking Tall," which was a great success. Two sequels and a TV series followed, all with good box office results. This remake has made some adaptations based on the original film but still focuses on justice and legendary heroes. Dwayne Johnson himself is a loyal fan of the original 70s movie and hopes to win the audience's respect through this remake role. The action scenes in the movie where Johnson fights with a wooden stick are very exciting, dodging bullets and using intelligence to win, even succeeding against six opponents. These are the highlights of the movie.
