"Emperor" is a seinen manga serialized in Shogakukan's "Big Comic Spirit" by Ryo Soritsuka since 2007. It tells the story of a man full of justice, Shou Kisaragi, who uses friendship as his weapon to challenge for the position of No. 1 male host in the nightlife world. This work is Ryo Soritsuka's fourth manga adapted into a TV drama after "Night King" in 2005, "Joou" in the same year, and "Empress" in 2007.

In the series, Takashi Tsukamoto plays the lead role of Shou Kisaragi. He has previously acted in "20-Year-Old Lover," "The Man Who Can't Marry," and "Pediatrics High," portraying characters ranging from a petty thug, an otaku, to an accountant. This is his first time playing the lead role. Additionally, he also starred in "Lost Sakura," which aired on May 30th and was also adapted from a manga. "I hope to grow with the protagonist in each episode. If you view this as a human drama filled with friendship and encounters, I think it will be very interesting." Takashi said regarding his first time as the lead actor.

The setting for the protagonist in the series is slightly different from the manga. In the original work, the main character is a baseball youth, but since Takashi is more skilled at soccer, the protagonist in the TV drama version has been changed to a soccer youth.
