Plot Summary:

In the town of Alamos, a scholar named Donnel is examining his grandfather's diary. The diary reveals that due to foreseeing a catastrophic future in his dreams, he constructed the Spacial Tower 100 years ago, which emits a melody capable of calming even legendary Pokémon. Meanwhile, Ash and his friends arrive at Alamos Town but mistakenly take a wrong turn and end up meeting Alice (Donnel's childhood friend). They hitch a ride on Alice’s hydrogen balloon and reach Alamos Town. After battling others in the town (the opening theme plays), Alice takes Ash and his friends to her favorite garden where they discover toppled columns. Baron Alube (a foolish man who considers himself Alice's future husband despite Alice liking Donnel) appears and accuses Darkrai of causing the destruction. He attacks a rustling bush but out comes Donnel, who was tracking spatial anomalies. Then, Darkrai truly appears, engaging Baron Alube in battle and casting "Nightmare" which hits Ash instead. Ash falls into a nightmare, seeing a strange shadow (later revealed to be Palkia), before being awakened by Pikachu’s electricity.

After waking up, Ash begins pursuing Darkrai, joined by the meddlesome Baron Alube, whose long tongue gets hit by Nightmare and dreams of becoming Baron Alube, resulting in the real Baron Alube transforming into a long tongue (clearly for comedic effect). It is discovered that all Pokémon attacked by Darkrai have their nightmares manifested in reality (a sight of numerous ghostly Pokémon flying in the sky). Ash and his friends continue chasing Darkrai when suddenly, space starts to tremble...
