◎Introduction

Sara Campbell (Virginia Madsen) and her husband Pete Campbell (Martin Donovan), both over forty, have a happy family with two sons and a daughter. However, their happiness turns into sorrow and worry when their son Matt (Kyle Gallner) is diagnosed with cancer. Determined to cure their child, Sara and Pete seek medical help everywhere but despite trying many treatments, there are no signs of improvement in Matt’s condition. Then they discover a new treatment method that seems to be working for Matt, bringing them hope. However, the treatment center is far from their home, so Sara and Pete decide to move their entire family closer to it for convenience.

The treatment costs are exorbitant, and over the years, Sara and Pete have almost depleted their savings. They must also take care of Matt daily while still looking after their other children who are not yet adults. Both parents endure immense physical and emotional stress. Fortunately, their children are understanding and try their best to help their parents, which brings comfort and motivation to Sara and Pete. They firmly believe they can cure their child.

At home, siblings Billy (Ty Wood) and Mary (Sophi Knight), having nothing else to do, begin exploring every corner of their new house. Gradually, they notice strange occurrences. Billy frequently sees fleeting images of a young boy, and old photos of this boy are found in the storage room, proving that Billy’s visions are not mere hallucinations. As more paranormal events unfold, an eerie atmosphere envelops the house. Sara notices her children exhibiting increasingly abnormal and terrifying behaviors. Upon investigating the history of the house, she discovers it was once a morgue where many horrifying incidents occurred. To save her children, Sara seeks help from a priest, hoping religious intervention can drive out the demons haunting her children.

One-line Comment:

"The Haunting in Connecticut" may feel familiar in its storytelling, but it contains elements worth reflecting on in modern times.

An extremely outdated, clichéd, and boring horror film.

"The Haunting in Connecticut" showcases the greatness of familial love, but it seems the director forgot he was making a horror movie.
