The story tells of a pregnant mother-to-be, Wu Jingyun, who is carrying a fetus with congenital heart disease. There are no precedents for successful treatment of this condition in the country, and the news immediately draws media attention. Ceng Yutong (played by Zuo Shaoqing) is assigned to interview Wu Jing and her husband. During the days and nights of waiting, as she witnesses their conflict and determination in deciding whether or not to give birth to the fetus, it stirs up her own reflections on the past. Originally, when she was one month old, she was abandoned by her mother at the door of a convent and was raised by Sister Ceng Mama (played by Ye Tong).
During the interview, Yutong receives a call from her good friend Zhi Xuan (played by Wu Qilong), informing her that Sister Ceng Mama is seriously ill and hospitalized with little time left. Before passing away, Sister Ceng Mama gives Yutong a package and a train ticket, hoping she can let go of her hatred towards her mother and reunite with her. Faced with the ticket and Sister Ceng Mama's last wish, Yutong, who hates her mother, struggles to make a decision between love and hate.
While hesitating whether to embark on the journey to find her mother, Yutong encounters a taxi driver with a son suffering from depression. Through their conversation, she learns about his persistence in raising his son, which stirs up ripples in Yutong's heart, who has lost trust in family ties. She becomes extremely curious about her mother's decision to abandon her all those years ago, and decides to embark on a journey of discovery with Zhi Xuan, hoping to uncover the truth behind her mother's seemingly heartless act of leaving her behind.
