Uncle Nine (played by Lin Zhengying), a priest of Maoshan Sect, has a big disciple named Feibao (played by Sammo Hung), who is betrothed to the daughter of a teahouse owner, Zhunü (played by Gong Cien). However, his father-in-law-to-be looks down on Feibao for being poor and wants to marry his daughter to a rich man named Mr. Shi. In order to raise a high dowry, Feibao buys a porridge stall to make money. Unexpectedly, his first customer turns out to be a female ghost. Feibao follows her and finds out that this ghost, named Xiaohong (played by Wang Wenjun), lingers in the human world to take care of her blind mother. Therefore, he pretends to be Xiaohong's cousin and invites the mother-daughter duo to his home. When Feibao's junior disciple, Xiaohai (played by Meng Hai), finds out about this, he asks Xiaohong to seduce Mr. Shi to help his master earn money. However, they are discovered by the witch of the Shi family...
